Senior Class Expectations & Procedures in English and
We expect all students be on time.
- This means sitting in your seat by the time class is scheduled to start.
Students who choose to be tardy eight times will be dropped from the class with an F (as per school policy). BE CAREFUL!
We expect all students be prepared for class with the proper materials.
- You do not need to bring a textbook to class; one will be available for class use and one will be given to you for use at home.
- We realize that no-one is perfect and that we sometimes forget certain supplies. There will be pens and pencils available for classroom use. These supplies are at the self-serve tables. Please do not touch our desks.
No grooming in the classroom.
- Pretty yourself at home and then forget about it, you are beautiful and do not need constant touch up. This classroom is a place where we care about your mind and what you think, not your nose and what you look like.
We expect that every person in this room will be treated with respect.
- Please do not speak while we are speaking. When you speak, we listen to you; we expect you to do the same for us.
- Do not make rude or unacceptable comments to any classmate, visitor, teacher, etc. If this happens, you call your parent/guardian & further action will be taken from there.
- Respect also includes: not putting your head down on the desk, not gathering your things to leave during instructional time, and falling asleep during movies or lessons. These actions are disrespectful and disturb both the instructor and your fellow students; these actions will not be tolerated.
Class Procedures
- All work will be done in blue or black ink.
- Homework is due at the beginning of the class period. Put in the in-box. Do not hand it to us. We DO NOT accept late work. Late work will receive no credit. If you are absent on the day that work is due, e-mail it on the day that it is due and bring in the hard copy on the day that you return to school (whether you have class or not).
- If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check
our websites and collect any missed work or make a FIRE appointment
if necessary for explanation of make-up work. WHEN
YOU ARE ABSENT, YOU WILL NOT MISS ANYTHING (WE STOP THE CLASS
UNTIL YOUR RETURN), SO DON'T EVEN BOTHER ASKING DID
WE DO ANYTHING IN CLASS YESTERDAY?
WE WILL NOT GIVE OUT MAKE-UP WORK DURING CLASS TIME - EVER!
- Students are expected to enter the classroom and immediately begin with the warm-up. Random oops! passes and other rewards will be distributed as incentive for this behavior.
- Oops! passes are yours to trade for restroom breaks, hydration breaks, or recovery of forgotten items in other places. No verbal request needs to transpire – circle your use on the pass and put it in the container on our desks. You may also use oops! passes to turn in an assignment by 2:00 p.m. (passes are due with the assignment). You must sign out by the door when you leave and return. If you need to visit the nurse, leave a note on your desk and sign out.
- Key information is provided in the bulletin every day. You will lose an oops! pass if you cannot be quiet. If we have to ask for silence so that a lesson can continue, the cost is an oops! pass.
- If you violate the dress code we will help you reach compliance. This could mean we give you something to cover up with or we give you a piece of rope as a belt. We consider it our right not to see your underwear.
- We will accept most Renaissance incentives (some are not
relevant at times). Any incentives must be discussed before
you intend to use them. Renaissance cards, FINISH STRONG
cards, and oops! passes expire the week before finals. Any
oops!
passes
remaining
in your possession at the end of the semester may be turned
in on the Friday before finals for 5 extra credit points
each. They retain no value after 2:00 p.m. on that date.
Class Supplies
- English: You need to have a section in the school- wide binder
for English. If you are not required by other teachers to use
the school-wide binder, you need to have a binder for English
and G/E.
