HAIKU

POETRY ASSIGNMENT #4 Haiku are subtle, simple poems that convey to the reader images and associations with great sensitivity through a single event or reference to nature.  They originated in Japan where they are still wildly popular.  Haiku is written in the present tense and will consist of three lines equaling 17 syllables.  The first and last lines are 5 syllables, and the second is seven syllables. Write three haiku and bring them to class on the same page. Haiku must follow the traditional 5-7-5 format. You can write about any topic you want. Enjoy!
