ASB Job Descriptions

ASB Officers | ASB Positions | Seniors | Juniors | Sophomores | Freshmen | Special

ASB PRESIDENT
Shall oversee all ASB officers in their duties and act as a liaison between ASB officers and the advisor
Shall preside over all Cabinet affairs
Shall prepare and conduct official executive Cabinet business meetings
Shall collect committee reports on a weekly basis
Shall know all other job descriptions and ensure that officers are following their job descriptions
Shall officially represent Foothill Technology High in all areas of school concerns
Shall drop in on various Committee meetings when available
Shall work with Administration in various capacities as requested
Shall be a member of the School Site Council (SSC)
Shall plan a program for Back To School Night
Shall organize an A.S.B. Cabinet training prior to the Cabinet year
Shall coordinate and perform ASB leadership curriculum workshops for ASB when requested by advisor
Shall choose and order ASB Shirts

ASB VICE-PRESIDENT
Shall assume the duties of the ASB President if he/she is absent or not in office
Shall assume the duties of the an ASB officer if vacant
Shall oversee all ASB officers in their duties and act as a liaison between ASB officers and the advisor
Shall collect all timesheets and turn in to advisor on due dates
Shall be the official Parliamentarian (make sure all rules followed and order is kept) to the Executive Cabinet
Shall be a member of the School Site Council (SSC)
Shall be in charge of the High 5 Leadership Awards
Shall coordinate Cabinet with a community service project (Special Olympics, Beach Clean up, etc.)
Shall coordinate one major social event for ASB Cabinet per quarter
Shall plan ASB End of Year retreat

ASB SOCIAL DIRECTOR
Shall coordinate and implement all district MORP dance
Shall coordinate all expo’s to promote upcoming events and head up fashion show portion of event
Shall work with Spirit Director on noon-time activities and spirit weeks
Shall work on all dance committees to help plan and coordinate

ASB SPIRIT DIRECTOR
Shall be responsible for organizing all renaissance Rallies with renaissance officers
Shall be responsible for keeping and publicizing a running score of all class competitions for the school year (bulletin, Web page, school newspaper etc)
Shall plan a spirit week once a semester in coordination with the Club Director
Shall plan and coordinate events for week leading up to STAR testing and STAR celebration day
Shall coordinate all dress up days
Shall attend all RAT Meetings and Renaissance Training conferences

ASB ALUMNI/AVID RELATIONS DIRECTOR
Shall coordinate a list of alumni by class complete with mailing address, email, and phone numbers
Shall continually research and look for ways to integrate alumni into school events
Shall plan one alumni social event per year
Shall plan one alumni visitation day (work with AVID team to coordinate event)
Shall distribute one alumni newsletter per semester
Shall serve as liaison from AVID site team to ASB
Shall attend all AVID Site Team meetings once per month
Responsible for organizing an event which recognizes and rewards all students for college acceptance
Shall complete AVID duties and communication to general student body or delegate to ASB members
Shall find ways to integrate the avid and renaissance programs in the regular

ASB CHARACTER TRAIT DIRECTOR
Shall coordinate all Character Trait noon-time activities (at least one per month)
Shall coordinate Cheers for Children event
Is responsible for completion of all prizes awarded as a result of philanthropic activity

ASB CLUB DIRECTOR
Shall preside over the Inter School Council meetings at least once per month, this includes:
- provide the minutes of the ISC meetings
- make sure necessary ISC documents are copied and distributed
- publicize student ISC meetings
- notify student ISC members of upcoming ISC events
- take attendance at ISC meetings
- create project lists and provide to teachers
Shall report all pertinent business of clubs and organizations to the Executive Cabinet
Shall be responsible for updating and maintaining the Cabinet monthly calendar with club events
Shall organize club rush at freshman orientation, once in the fall and spring
Shall keep updated files of clubs, rosters, advisors and constitutions
Shall be a correspondent to all clubs and organizations on campus
Shall present all club charters and constitutions to ASB Cabinet for approval
Shall make sure FTHS technology directors have accurate club information for the web site
Shall plan and develop one Food Fair event for Spring Air Guitar
Shall be responsible for the recognition of various clubs and advisors
Shall coordinate Club Craze Week that promotes campus involvement
Shall attend at least one meeting of each club a year
Shall keep and update an accurate list of clubs in ASB room, office, in each Pod and on school website

ASB ELECTIONS DIRECTOR
Shall coordinate all aspects of ASB Elections
Shall organize and supervise all school elections (ASB, Class Offices, Appointed positions, Prom, Winter Formal, etc.)
Shall sponsor a Candidate Interest Meeting
Shall formulate a special activity to stimulate student interest in getting involved in Student Government
Shall write articles for the bulletin, FTHS Web Page and Newspaper in regards to promoting all aspects of running for office (Including information about election)
Shall coordinate the planning of the New Cabinet Installation Ceremony

ASB FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR
Shall keep a notebook of all fundraising catalogs updated and organized by section in the ASB room
Shall work with ASB Treasurer to count and deposit all funds from fundraisers
Shall provide incentives for top sellers in all fundraisers
Shall attend all RAT meetings and Renaissance conferences to assist with fundraising efforts
Shall organize and implement at least one all school fundraiser per year with a goal of $15,000(Or one per semester with a goal of $7500 each semester) (Ex. Entertainment book sales)
Shall attend all ISC meetings to assist clubs with fundraising opportunities and ideas

ASB HISTORIAN*
Shall update office picture frames once per month with Department of the month & 2 ASB activities that occurred the previous month
Shall recognize Cabinet members’ birthdays
Shall maintain a working relationship with the yearbook advisor or designee which includes:
Contact yearbook photographers for pictures from school events for ASB use
Assist in photographing school events
Providing a list of events for needed photography
Updating yearbook on any changes or additions to the calendar
Providing copies of photos taken on behalf of ASB events for yearbook use

ASB PUBLICITY DIRECTOR
Shall make special posters and banners for various Cabinet sponsored events
Shall publicize special FTHS events or pertinent messages in the school bulletin, website, etc.
Shall update display case for publicizing ASB related activities once per month
Shall be responsible for working with ASB Bookkeeper on ordering of all promotional items sold in student store
Shall be responsible for coordination of designing of all FTHS paraphernalia if necessary
Shall be responsible for inventory of all supplies and supply cabinet (ink for posters, tape, butcher paper, helium, etc.)

ASB SECRETARY
Shall be responsible for updating and maintaining the Cabinet monthly calendar
Shall be responsible for creating and updating classroom mailboxes
Shall be responsible for writing thank you letters for all events
Shall record the minutes of the official business meetings and have a copy available for each Cabinet member 1 day prior to next business meeting
Shall write all correspondence as requested by the Executive Cabinet
Shall prepare and update the roster of the Executive Cabinet
Shall be Chairperson of the Executive Cabinet in the absence of the President and Vice-President
Shall assign clean up and organization responsibilities for all ASB events (have sign in and sign out sheet for every mandatory event)
Shall coordinate bulletin board responsibilities in the ASB room
Shall coordinate the delivery of mail to ASB members


ASB ASST. SPIRIT DIRECTOR

Shall be responsible for coordinating Spring Air Guitar
Shall be responsible for coordinating of all “music Friday’s”
Shall attend all RAT Meetings and Renaissance Training conferences

ASB SPORTS DIRECTOR
Shall create and maintain a list of athletics and the event in which they participate
Shall organize ASB members in attending at least one athletic event per season (all levels)
Shall ensure all athletic events are visited at least once by an ASB cabinet member
Shall organize at least 1 spirit activity related to athletics per semester
Shall assist publicity director in promoting all athletic activities through posters, banners and advertising activities
Shall be responsible for publicizing a weekly list of dates, times, and locations of athletic events with FTHS (Bulletin, Web page, school newspaper, posters, marquee, etc) ALL LEVELS
Shall be responsible for identifying scholar athletes
Shall integrate scholar athletes into Renaissance Rally
Shall organize incentive for scholar athletes each semester

ASB TREASURER
Shall work with the ASB Bookkeeper regarding all financial issues relating to the Executive Cabinet and FTHS
Shall provide a copy of the weekly ASB official financial statement to ASB cabinet
Shall present to ASB Cabinet an official report of all ASB expenditures and make recommendations as to its approval
Shall work with ASB Fundraising Director on counting and depositing of all funds
Shall work with the Class VP which serve as Class Treasurers (Senior, Junior, Sophomore and Freshman) on class account budgets and income projections
Shall work with the Club Treasurer on club account budgets and income projections
Shall monitor all Foothill Technology High School accounts and alert Cabinet to any special considerations that need attention.
Shall be a member of the School Site Council (SSC)
Shall be Chairman of the Executive Cabinet in the absence of the President, Vice-President and Secretary.
Shall be responsible for maintaining the ASB budget for all ASB-related accounts and giving monthly balances
Shall be responsible for all receipts and correspondence from ASB bookkeeper
Shall be responsible for maintaining the ASB finance notebook with all the appropriate records

FRESHMAN CLASS PRESIDENT
Represent freshman in all areas of Class concerns

Shall attend all renaissance training conferences offered
Shall attend all RAT meetings
Shall assist all other renaissance officers as needed

Attend and support all Class/Renaissance sponsored activities
Shall coordinate a quarter 1 renaissance incentive card for Freshmen Only
Shall coordinate one renaissance event/incentive per class (9, 10, 11) per semester
Shall attend all renaissance training conferences offered
Shall attend all RAT meetings
Shall assist all other renaissance officers as needed

RENAISSANCE BUSINESS DIRECTOR
The main responsibility will be to create & maintain a good relationship between the ASB Cabinet and the FTHS Business Partnerships
Facilitate a membership drive to be completed by the ASB to recruit new friends for Renaissance
Keep record in excel spreadsheet of all donations from friends of renaissance
Keep accurate list of all contact information for all friends of renaissance
Ensure that Friends of Renaissance lists are publicized in all school publicity (Newsletters, school website, back to school night program, etc.)
Be responsible for making sure all FTHS business partnerships get thank you cards and appropriate awards for their sponsorship
Coordinate one major friend of renaissance appreciation event per semester
Make sure all Friends of Renaissance are invited to all renaissance events
Create and maintain a friends of renaissance newsletter to be distributed once per semester
Shall contact all current friends of renaissance to renew their membership once a year
Shall provide business discounts to student relations director for renaissance card
Shall utilize the renaissance officers to complete any and all of the above tasks
Shall attend all renaissance training conferences offered
Shall attend all RAT meetings
Shall order all awards, plaques, certificates, etc.

RENAISSANCE EVENT DIRECTOR
Shall coordinate at least one renaissance dance per year
Shall coordinate Renaissance Fridays and work with the business director to get incentives for distribution
Shall put on a Teachers Choice Award Event (one per quarter)
Shall assist Spirit Director with Renaissance Rally
Shall attend all renaissance training conferences offered
Shall attend all RAT meetings

RENAISSANCE STAFF RELATIONS DIRECTOR
The main responsibility will be to maintain a good relationship between the ASB Cabinet and the FTHS Faculty/Staff.
Be responsible for making sure all FTHS Staff get thank you cards for assisting with ASB/Renaissance sponsored events
Coordinate one major faculty appreciation event per semester
Provide activities to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week
Celebrate FTHS staff birthdays
Recruit staff members to participate in ASB Events (rallies, class comps, teacher music day, etc)
Be responsible for selecting the Staff Person of the Month (2) and creating recognition certificates as well as awards
Increase communications between the ASB Cabinet and the FTHS Staff (notices to teachers, bulletin board in Faculty Cafeteria and workrooms)
Select department of the month and organize activities
Shall attend all renaissance training conferences offered
Shall attend all RAT meetings

RENAISSANCE STUDENT RECOGNITION DIRECTOR
Shall coordinate the creation and distribution of the renaissance cards
Shall coordinate the creation and distribution of renaissance T-Shirts
Shall coordinate the selection of Student of the Month Awards (one per month)
Shall create an AD-Hoc committee of random students for renaissance ideas
Shall create and maintain renaissance ideas box in office and media center
Shall attend all renaissance training conferences offered
Shall attend all RAT meetings

Shall promote all special awareness weeks by using activities to create interest
Shall coordinate all Kick Butts week activities
Shall coordinate all Red Ribbon week activities
